Local Entrepreneur Opens Shop at The Promenade Bolingbrook

BOLINGBROOK, Ill. — Aug. 31, 2018— Just in time for the holidays, local entrepreneur  won the Battle of the Pop-Up contest and will open her first brick-and-mortar location, Mia’s Wish, at The Promenade Bolingbrook.

“I am ecstatic to have been chosen as the winner of the Battle of the Pop-Up contest,” said Jucius, a resident of Plainfield. “I enjoy shopping at The Promenade Bolingbrook and being able to apply my vision to a retail store for all to experience is a dream come true.”

Jucius, who launched her successful business in 2012,  handcrafts her bath and body products from plant-based ingredients out of her studio in Oswego. Prior to winning this challenge, she sold her goods online, at art and craft fairs, and at trade shows.

Jucius aims to make body butters that don’t feel greasy, soap that hydrates and nourishes the skin, and aluminum-free deodorant that is effective and gentle, among other hard-to-find natural products on the market today.

“A lot of work goes into the scent formulations; I want the products to smell good, but not smell like anything else that is already in the marketplace,” she said.

As the Battle of the Pop-Up contest winner, Jucius receives a rent-free space for six months. In addition to the space, she also receives use of existing mall or store fixtures, free utilities as well as a $500 merchandising package from the property that includes interior signage, table-printed displays and graphic design services.

“We are so pleased to welcome Maria and Mia’s Wish to The Promenade Bolingbrook,” said Kris Kulcher, marketing director at the property. “We know shoppers are going to love her unique, locally-handcrafted goods. We’re so excited for her store to open.”

Mia’s Wish will launch on The Row next to Sunglass Hut on November 1, 2018.
