The Storehouse Wins 2019 Battle of the Pop-Up Shop

The Storehouse Wins 2019 Battle of the Pop-Up

Shop That Sources Locally Made Products Receives Four Months of Free Retail Space

BOLINGBROOK, Ill. — June 27, 2019— The Storehouse, an occasional shop that sources locally made, fair trade, and small brand products founded by Rachel and Brandon McCurdy, has won The Promenade Bolingbrook’s 2019 Battle of the Pop-Up. In addition to winning free retail space for four months, the McCurdys receive use of existing mall or store fixtures, and free utilities along with a $500 merchandising package that includes interior signage, table-printed displays and graphic design services.

Just as the contest supports local entrepreneurs by helping them introduce their products to a new market, The Storehouse supports makers and small businesses by including their products – from home decor to gifts to apparel – in its store.

While The Storehouse was located in historic downtown Frankfort for several years, the new location at The Promenade at Bolingbrook will introduce the company and its makers to a new, broader audience.

“It’s such an honor to be chosen as the winner of The Battle of the Pop-Up,” Rachel McCurdy said. “We are excited about introducing our products to Bolingbrook and we look forward to partnering with the fine team at the Promenade to create something unique and special!”

The Storehouse carries the McCurdy’s own product, The Talking Shirt, a line of T-shirts designed by Brandon with uplifting, positive messages.

“As a maker, I get goosebumps when I see our brand in a store,” Rachel said. “The Storehouse was founded to give other makers a platform to sell their products in a brick and mortar setting, as well as provide the public with unique and original products. I love curating the smallest brands and giving them a chance to shine in a store where people can see, touch and feel the variety of products.”

The Storehouse carries a variety of products including hand painted signs, hand poured candles, jewelry, home decor, and apparel.

“We are so pleased to support The Storehouse through our Battle of the Pop-Up,” said Kris Kuchler, marketing director of The Promenade Bolingbrook. “Rachel supports other local makers and small businesses through her shop, and we are thrilled to support her initiative and all of the entrepreneurs she brings with her to The Promenade Bolingbrook.”
